Annette @ Home…
Home and family time are very sacred to Annette as she tends to be very busy during the week where she attends countless networking events all the time. So, when it comes to her weekends, we all know that Annette is not to be disturbed.
Annette is a real fire-cracker who just loves to keep busy. She has often been known to say that she has no time to get old because she is far too busy having fun. She is a fun-loving person who enjoys to travel, spend time with friends attending fun events, playing the African drums and singing her heart out whenever she finds the opportunity. She is also the Chair of Wildfire women’s community choir.

Among her many other achievements and interests Annette does as many ‘kiltwalks’ as she is able to raise funds for a charity that is very close to her heart, The RNBI because they have played such a pivotal role in her own struggle with sight loss and then supporting her through this back into a productive life. It’s her way of giving back and saying thank you. Apart from her fundraising efforts, she also serves on the board of the RNBI to ensure that their incredible work continues to support the countless lives that have been thrust into the possibility of life without sight

More about the Journey here…
Annette has called Edinburgh home for more than 30 years but originally hails from Barbados. In Scotland she has worked in both the public and private sectors for companies like, British Aerospace, Texaco, Stevenson College, LinkNet Mentoring, Score Scotland and Milan.
While forging forward on her career path Annette learnt that she has the sight loss condition, Macular degeneration but despite nearly having lost her sight completely, this glass half full, nothing will hold me down lady found a way, in the midst of this turning point in her life to rise like a phoenix from the ashes. During this battle with her sight she obtained her qualifications as a Massage & Aroma therapist and also started her own natural cosmetics company, Shea Aroma.
Her battle with her own sight has ignited her to become a warrior for the RNBI through which she has co-founded iWomen Scotland which was established in August 2013. It supports ethnic minority women with sight loss. Her work within the RNBI highlights that some ethnic groups can be more vulnerable to some sight threatening conditions than others so getting the eye earth message across to them at events across Scotland is vital.
Annette puts her hand to the plow wherever she can so in 2019 she also joined the team at Heartsong Radio as a radio presenter where she now runs a weekly radio show called, ‘What’s on your plate’. Here she has had the privilege to interview some Scotland’s best and brightest.

My favourite quote...
To say Yes, you have to sweat and roll up your sleeves and plunge both hands into life up to the elbows. It is easy to say no and sometimes saying no is death
